On the Importance of the Deadlock Trap Property for Monotonic Liveness
نویسندگان
چکیده
In Petri net systems, liveness is an important property capturing the idea of no transition (action) becoming non-fireable (unattainable). Additionally, in some situations it is particularly interesting to check if the net system is (marking) monotonically live, i.e., it remains live for any marking greater than the initial one. In this paper, we discuss structural conditions preserving liveness under arbitrary marking increase. It is proved that the deadlock trap property (DTP) is a necessary condition for liveness monotonicity of ordinary nets, and necessary and sufficient for some subclasses. We illustrate also how the result can be used to study liveness monotonicity for non-ordinary nets using a simulation preserving the firing language. Finally, we apply these conditions to several case studies of biomolecular networks.

How Many Live Minimal Structural Traps Are Required to Make a Minimal Deadlock Locally Live in General Petri Nets ?
Petri nets are one of useful models for discrete event systems in which liveness problem as well as reachability problem is one of big issues. But, it has not been completely solved from the point of view of useful initial-marking-based liveness conditions in general Petri nets. In this paper, to guarantee localliveness (i. e. ,liveness under MoD) for each minimal deadlock (MSDL). ND=(SD. TD.FD...
متن کاملPetri Net Based Behavior Description of Cross-Organization Workflow with Synchronous Interaction Pattern
Today’s workflow systems are crossing organizational boundaries and usually involve multiple organizations or partners, and the crossorganization workflow has received much public attention from both the academia and the industry. This way the property analysis as well as system control for a cross-organization workflow is very important. In this paper, we focus on a kind of loosely coupled wor...
متن کاملA Structure Causality Relation for Liveness Characterisation in Petri Nets
Characterising liveness using a structure based approach is a key issue in theory of Petri nets. In this paper, we introduce a structure causality relation from which a topological characterisation of liveness in Petri nets is defined. This characterisation relies on a controllability property of siphons and allows to determine the borders of the largest abstract class of Petri nets for which e...
متن کاملTiming and deadlock - freeness in Continuous Petri nets ?
Timing an unforced (discrete or continuous) net model preserves deadlock-freeness, but not the stronger liveness property, in general. The converse is not true, and if the autonomous net model has deadlocks, the timing may transform it into deadlock-free. Under infinite servers semantics, here we investigate the conditions on the firing rates of continuous timed models that makes deadlock-free ...
متن کاملLiveness, Fairness and Impossible Futures
Impossible futures equivalence is the semantic equivalence on labelled transition systems that identifies systems iff they have the same “AGEF” properties: temporal logic properties saying that reaching a desired outcome is not doomed to fail. We show that this equivalence, with an added root condition, is the coarsest congruence containing weak bisimilarity with explicit divergence that respec...
